Announcing the Official Creatively Driven Blog Redesign
I’m slowly getting through my work load. I have one client project near completion that I am really eager to share. I have to wait a wee bit longer because she wants to launch with a big bang, so hold tight.
I feel so lucky to be working with such a diverse group of people. It has given me a chance to really flex my design muscles and realize what I’m truly best at and what I should improve on. It’s also given me insight into industries I now know I don’t want to continue designing for.
In the mean time…
I’m re-designing Creatively Driven. Again. I know it probably seems like i just re-designed (back in early 2014) but I’m actually combining my design business with my blog with a new shop and other resource guides.
So this is a huge change and I am so excited about it. The re design is slow because I have so many clients to juggle right now, but I’ve made a decision to cut back on client work so that I can get my site up in the third quarter.
What does that mean for my portfolio site? Nothing. I will keep it and direct people to creatively driven to contact me. I will keep this site separate so that I can continue to add personal projects projects and contractor work.
Along with all this business shuffling, I have to still figure out the actual paper work for all this. I’ve been working under my own name for over 4 years and now I have to switch to a DBA. People say its easy, but just navigating the forms and making sure this wont kill me on taxes is my priority.
I’m reaching out to contact my CPA and a business consultant from SF SCORE to make sure I’m doing this right.
That being said I’m finding it a challenge to combine styles. My portfolio is very clean, vibrant, and bold using simple stripe and polkadot patterns and overlays on black and white images. My blog is muted, messy, and experimental, full of collages, ink splotches, and handwriting.
It’s hard to figure out how to balance those two. I’m drawn to designed chaos designs like this one:
I cant of course design my site like this, but taking elements from this type of design is what will probably show up in Creatively Driven 4.0.
Mood board to come!
