Personal Project: Wireframes for Cal’s Corgis

This is a personal project of mine.

Cal’s Corgis is a ficticious company (working title), for a real life problem. I recently adopted a corgi, and during the arduous search for the right breeder, I was dismayed to find that very few breeders have decent websites (and some have none at all). The hunt for basic information like “how much do your puppies cost?, When can I pick them up? what’s included in the cost? etc.” were all difficult to find answers to without contacting the breeder directly. From a User Experience perspective, it was unnacceptable. I then realized that I wanted to design a website for my breeder or any breeder that would accomplish these goals:

  • Create brand/breeder trust through displaying the breeders “experience/credentials” as well as visual examples of their dogs.
  • Provide answers to Frequently asked questions upfront, so that potential adopters don’t have to struggle to find the information.
  • create a growing community and repeated visits to the site by adding to the “gallery” of past litters and their new homes.

Target Audience:

  • potential adopters (with no experience adopting),
  • past adopters looking to build a relationship with their breeder,
  • corgi lovers that just look to look at cute pictures.

Dynamic content goes in “newest litter” and “expecting mothers”. The “corgi cam” is a live stream of one of the recently born litters.

This is a place to showcase the credentials/experience as well as providing easy access to the contact form. Emphasis is put on viewing the FAQ page before asking questions.

Adopt: puppy 0-8 weeks search

The filter helps narrow down your search for the perfect puppy. This shows all males that are between 0-8 weeks old with a sable coat. The profile pic shows a smaller version of the mother in the right hand corner.

Detail page:

Each puppy gets it’s own profile page. All the information about the puppy lies here, including a gallery of each weekly photo so that customers/owners can see the progress.

Clicking on more photos thumbnail leads to a lightbox slide show.

Adopt: unborn litter (expecting mothers and father photos)

Because you can not filter an unborn litter by color or gender, those portions of the filter are greyed out. The mother’s photo is visible and the fathers is the smaller one in the right corner.

This houses all the questions that a breeder gets asked on a daily basis. Also highlighting the entire process of adoption from deposit to pickup.

Deposit screen:

If a user decides they are interested in a puppy, they will be prompted to pay a $100 deposit fee.

Deposit Confirmation/Thank you

Our Dogs Page:

A visual profile for all the dogs that the breeder owns personally and their breeding records.

This is where past litters go. Customers can contribute photo updates (not shown yet) of their dogs. This page builds a community and keeps people coming back long after they’ve adopted.

I’m taking another class about icon design and I decided to use that class as a continuation of this project. I’ll be designing some Icons for the UI of this project (and hopefully a better logo)

here’s the basic sketch ideas. Still very rough.
